Ministries

ACOLYTES
at All Saints’ are recruited from school-age parishioners,
fourth grade or older. Their ministry is to assist during the
variety of worship services within our church community.
Children and Youth Ministries
Visitors and friends are always
welcome to participate in our children’s ministry programs.

CHOIR AND MUSIC
All Saints' boasts a strong but largely volunteer
music program consisting of a church choir, a handbell choir,
and a brass quintet. None are professional musicians but many
are serious amateurs who consider music their avocation. Our choir director,
Justin Raffa, has a Masters degree in choral conducting.
Besides directing the All Saints' choir, he is the director for
the Mid-Columbia Mastersingers and the Three Rivers Youth
Chorus.

THE ALTAR GUILD is always eager to welcome persons interested in this service! Our ministry is one of the oldest in the church and is vital to the church's basic function of worship. Our duties include keeping the area from behind the altar rail to the choir clean, setting up for all services, keeping the silver and brass bright and shiny, maintaining the candles, washing and ironing the altar linens, etc. In other words, all the "practical" things that enhance our worship services and make them glorious.
LAY HEALERS serve at Sunday services. During communion, the Lay Healer offers prayers and the laying on of hands for anyone desiring healing prayers. Part of the healing includes anointing with oil which has been blessed by the Bishop.
LAY READERS are licensed by the diocese, following appropriate training, to read lessons and prayers at worship and to conduct certain services, such as Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer. These regularly scheduled ministers may also be licensed to administer the chalice.
LAY EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS provide a ministry to the ill or homebound that connects them to the parish congregation by bringing communion directly from the worship services to the person at home, in the hospital or nursing home. This connection of the gathered community in worship to the scattered community at home is an important part of our Pastoral Care Ministry as well as our worship.
LECTORS are parishioners who participate in the service by reading the second lesson during the service.
USHERS serve at most worship services. They greet people at the door, ask visitors to sign the guest register, hand out bulletins, give directions to visitors, and pass the collection plate. After the service, they pick up papers left in the pews. The ushers are scheduled on a regular, rotating basis.
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
If you know of someone going through a difficult time — dealing with their own illness, or that of a loved one, a death in the family, or any other crisis, you might consider giving them one of our shawls. Our prayer shawls are not limited to members of this church. They are for anyone in need. If you know of someone you feel needs a shawl, please call the church office. Delivery of a shawl can be quickly arranged.
If you cannot or do not wish to make a shawl, you may contribute towards purchase of the yarn. Most of the yarn is paid for out-of-pocket by those making shawls, so donations are greatly appreciated to help offset their expenses.
STEPHEN MINISTRY
Stephen Ministry is a program of our congregation that equips lay persons to provide distinctively Christian one-to-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances, both in our congregation and community. Stephen Ministers receive 50 hours of initial training in important caring ministry skills and concepts and are commissioned as Stephen Ministers after completing their initial training. They are then assigned to visit another person regularly and dependably and offer Christian support and care in complete confidentiality.
PASTORAL CARE
The umbrella of Pastoral Care at All Saints' is very large, presently covering many different ministries including some mentioned above: Lay Eucharistic Ministers, Lay Healers, Stephen Ministers, and the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Other ministries include:
The Altar Flower Delivery people take the flowers from the Sunday altar to people who need some cheering up or are celebrating a special time in life or deserve thanks for something they have done.
Hospital Visitors check at Kadlec hospital on a daily basis to see if anyone registered as an Episcopalian is there. If so, they receive a brief visit and a prayer from someone in this group.
Loaves and Fishes provides meals to parish members who are in need of help with crises in their lives, such as a family death, illness, or surgery. Providers are grouped by neighborhoods in the Tri-Cities.
Parish Prayer List
Friends and members of parish families are prayed for daily. If you would like to add someone's name to the list, please contact the church office.
Combine Travel and Service in El Salvador
Episcopal Relief and Development, an agency of the National Church, is helping rebuild four communities in El Salvador devastated by earthquake, storms, and years of war. Project teams work with ERD supervisors in week-long segments. For more information on how to volunteer, visit www.er-d.org, or call ERD’s local representative Linda Hale at 509-837-5444.
